Tweens..not how u think.

I think I'll pass...
(Forever 21)
So I was out to dinner with some friends last night when the topic turned to fashion, and my friend Sheri Scordley (one of my top 10 most stylish ladies in the area) made enlightened us with a profound theory. Here it is, , as 30/40 something women we are the new tweens! We are too young to spend $1,000 and up on an Escada suit that will last forever, because we are still young enough to want to wear the latest trends.
Sure we each have our own sense of style, but we are at an age where we can wear some of the latest trends (i.e. leg warmers) yet we are old enough to pass some up and not have to embrace each new style whole healrtdly as it comes down the runway (i.e. the whole prairie home companion look that was so hot this fall, yeah no thanks, I pass). We are far past high school and no longer need to morf into one another for fear of not fitting in, yet Im not ready to abandon my clothing creativity for one specific look or outfit that cost so much it better last as long as I do.
So... here's the dilemma, where do we shop? I'm over the clothes you wear once and they fall apart, I'd rather spend a lot on a piece of jewelry that will last forever.
As my other very hip and fashionably gifted friend, Jen Weil said the other day "when u walk into Abecrombie and ask the girl how she can work there with the music so loud" does it mean u are probably too old to be shopping there???
After much consideration here are some of the labels we came up with last night as our favorites for now, Alice and Olivia, Calypso, J.Crew (if you are over 5'5), and sometimes Vince. Here are some others I love DVF, Club Monaco, Chloe and Theory.

I'd love to hear what u think. Do u agree that we are the new tween and where do u suggest we shop? Please weigh in.
